AIR BAGS
Owners of the 2024 Mazda CX-30 report issues with airbag deployment, with some experiencing unexpected deployment without prior warning or alerts, even at low mileages around 4,000 miles. Complaints frequently mention problems with airbag warning systems, such as indications that passenger airbags are not engaged, despite attempts to recalibrate. One incident involving a crash resulted in airbag deployment causing injuries, highlighting potential safety risks. Additionally, issues with water intrusion leading to rust and corrosion of airbag components are reported, particularly soon after purchase. These complaints suggest a range of airbag-related concerns that could affect safety and reliability for potential buyers.
Owners of the 2024 Mazda CX-30 report issues primarily related to electronic systems and the transmission. Complaints frequently mention Apple CarPlay disconnecting mid-drive, which causes distraction and navigation loss. Additionally, a significant transmission problem is noted, with reports of loud whining and grinding noises leading to a complete transmission failure at around 20,000 miles, without any dashboard warnings. Another issue involves the keyless entry system malfunctioning, preventing the car from starting, even when using alternative key fobs, shortly after purchase. These problems present potential safety risks, particularly the transmission failure, which could result in sudden loss of propulsion while driving.
Owner complaints3
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Owners report several electrical system issues with the 2024 Mazda CX-30. Commonly mentioned problems include failure of the infotainment system, climate controls, and braking system, as well as inconsistent operation of door locks, lane departure, and blind spot monitoring systems. Symptoms often include illuminated warning lights on the instrument panel and malfunctioning of the rearview camera and cruise control. These issues are reported at low mileages, with one owner noting problems at just 900 miles. Safety implications are suggested by the loss of control over vehicle functions, though no crashes or fires are mentioned.
Owner complaints3
LANE DEPARTURE
Owners report that the 2024 Mazda CX-30 exhibits issues with its lane departure and related safety systems. Complaints frequently mention the vehicle's emergency braking system activating unexpectedly, often due to misinterpreting shadows or nearby vehicles as obstacles, which poses a risk of rear-end collisions. Additionally, there are reports of the vehicle incorrectly detecting nearby vehicles when signaling turns, and failures in the Forward Sensing Camera affecting multiple features such as lane assistance and automatic headlight adjustment. These issues have been noted shortly after purchase, with one owner indicating the problems were present since delivery. Safety implications include the potential for collisions due to unexpected braking, and multiple owners express difficulty in obtaining repairs, especially when their vehicle is not covered by existing recalls.
Owner complaints3
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Owners report issues with the forward collision avoidance system in the 2024 Mazda CX-30, primarily involving unexpected braking and acceleration behaviors. Complaints frequently mention the vehicle braking abruptly during highway turns when using adaptive cruise control, with deceleration ranging from 5 to 12 mph. Another common issue involves the braking system activating erroneously when accelerating from a stop or maneuvering into parking spaces, with one owner noting this at approximately 2,500 miles. Additionally, owners describe the cruise control system as causing the vehicle to accelerate too aggressively after being canceled and re-engaged, as well as inconsistently modulating brake and gas inputs when navigating highway curves. These symptoms may lead to potential safety concerns, such as unexpected stops or loss of control, particularly in high-speed or congested traffic situations.
