EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Owners of the 2024 Ford F-150 frequently report issues with the vehicle's exterior lighting, particularly concerning the brightness of the LED headlights. Complaints commonly describe the headlights as excessively bright and blinding to oncoming drivers, with several reports of temporary blindness or difficulty seeing the road. These issues are linked to two reported crashes, with descriptions of vehicles going off the road or requiring sudden stops. Some owners also mention fogging of headlights during rain, which is described as normal by the manufacturer, but is still seen as a safety concern by those affected. POWER TRAIN

Owners report several issues with the 2024 Ford F-150's power train, with a significant number of complaints related to hard shifting, gear skipping, and clunking noises, particularly in the 10R80 transmission. Symptoms often include delayed shifts, unexpected acceleration, and a notable clunk when changing gears, especially between the first and third gears. These issues are frequently noted at low mileages, such as 2,000 to 16,000 miles. Additionally, some owners experience problems with the gear shifter becoming stuck, either in drive or park, and a recurring "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power" warning light. Safety implications are highlighted by a reported crash involving potential rear axle bolt failure while towing, leading to loss of control. Buyers should be aware of potential recall-related delays for repairs due to parts availability issues.

Severity signals: 1 crash, 0 fire, 0 injury reports

Owner complaints14

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Owners report frequent issues with the digital dashboard of the 2024 Ford F-150, including the display going black or flickering while driving. These symptoms are often intermittent, with occurrences lasting from a few seconds to a minute, and typically correct themselves upon restarting the vehicle. Some complaints describe the instrument cluster shutting off, which in one case, led to a temporary loss of vehicle control while using the Blue Cruise feature. The problems are noted across various mileage ranges, with some occurring as early as 2,000 miles. Safety implications include potential driver distraction and temporary loss of access to important vehicle information such as speed and gear position.

Owner complaints5

ENGINE

Owners report multiple issues with the 2024 Ford F-150's engine, including stalling and unintended acceleration. Stalling is frequently mentioned, particularly at red lights or stops, often requiring several attempts to restart and causing concern for potential road rage or accidents. One complaint describes a severe incident where the truck went full throttle on its own, resulting in a crash and two injuries. Acceleration hesitation and rough idling are also noted, especially after cold starts, with these issues typically emerging around 6,000 miles or after a year of ownership. These symptoms pose safety risks, particularly the unintended acceleration which has already led to a crash.

Severity signals: 1 crash, 0 fire, 2 injury reports

Owner complaints5

SERVICE BRAKES

Owners of the 2024 Ford F-150 report several brake-related issues, with two incidents involving crashes. Common symptoms include brakes failing to engage, unexpected acceleration when brakes are applied, and parking brakes activating without user input. Some owners mention warning lights for brake systems, ABS, and traction control, while others note a lack of prior warnings before failures. These issues have been reported as early as three weeks after purchase or around 4,000 miles. The safety implications are significant, with reports of crashes resulting from brake failures and unintended acceleration, highlighting potential risks for loss of control.

Severity signals: 2 crash, 0 fire, 0 injury reports

Owner complaints3

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Owners report issues with the 2024 Ford F-150 involving the braking and forward collision avoidance systems. Complaints frequently mention sudden brake failures, with one instance leading to a crash in a driveway when the brakes became unresponsive and required a brake booster replacement. Another owner describes the emergency brakes engaging unexpectedly in an empty parking lot, resulting in an injury. Additionally, some owners experience recurring failure warnings from the ABS, hill assist, and collision systems, which complicate braking. These issues appear to occur early in the vehicle's usage, as one owner notes problems resurfacing after service. Safety implications include loss of braking control and unexpected braking, both of which have led to crashes and injuries.

Severity signals: 1 crash, 0 fire, 1 injury reports

Owner complaints3

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Owners of the 2024 Ford F-150 report issues primarily related to engine and engine cooling recalls, with parts for the necessary repairs being unavailable. Complaints frequently mention delays in obtaining parts for recall repairs, with some owners expressing frustration over the extended wait times. Additionally, one owner describes experiencing significant engine performance issues, including vibrations, jerking, and hesitation while driving at 70 MPH, which led to a diagnosis of damaged cylinders at 269 miles. No crashes or fires are reported, but the described symptoms suggest potential safety concerns during operation. Buyers should be aware of these issues, particularly the availability of recall repair parts and potential engine performance problems at low mileage.

Owner complaints2

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Owners report two main issues with the 2024 Ford F-150 related to vehicle speed control and forward collision avoidance. The first issue involves the adaptive cruise control's new turn detection feature, which automatically brakes when approaching curves with suggested speed signs, leading to unexpected deceleration that can surprise following drivers, especially on highways and canyon roads. The second issue involves the accelerator pedal sticking, requiring drivers to manually lift the pedal with their foot to stop acceleration. Both issues are noted from the time of purchase, and the unexpected braking and sticking accelerator have potential safety implications, including the risk of rear-end collisions and difficulty maintaining control.

Owner complaints2

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Owners of the 2024 Ford F-150 report issues related to the fuel/propulsion system, with one incident involving a fire and another involving a fuel vapor vent valve leak. In the fire incident, the vehicle had just 12 miles on it when smoke was observed from the hood, quickly escalating to a full-blown fire. In the second complaint, a hybrid model under 3,000 miles triggered a "service engine soon" alert due to a fuel tank or line issue, which was later diagnosed as a leaking fuel vapor vent valve. The symptoms include warning lights and smoke, with the fire posing a significant safety risk. These reports suggest potential early-life issues with the fuel system, particularly in vehicles with very low mileage.

Severity signals: 0 crash, 1 fire, 0 injury reports

Owner complaints2

LANE DEPARTURE, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Owners of the 2024 Ford F-150 report issues with the forward collision avoidance system and lane departure features. One incident involved a failure to detect a deer, resulting in a crash without any alerts or automatic braking, raising concerns about the system's ability to detect human-sized objects. Another owner describes the vehicle unexpectedly engaging the collision warning system and traction control in heavy rain, causing the truck to brake abruptly, shift into park, and shut off, resulting in a complete stop on the roadway. These complaints highlight potential safety implications, including the risk of crashes and sudden loss of control. Both incidents occurred at varying speeds, but specific mileage details are not provided.
