Owner complaints3

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Owners report frequent malfunctions with the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan's forward collision avoidance system, where the vehicle's emergency brake engages unexpectedly. Complaints often describe the car braking or shifting into park without any obstacles present, sometimes occurring when the vehicle is at a stoplight or moving at low speeds, around 15-20 mph. These issues have been noted by some owners within the first three months of ownership, with one owner experiencing the problem up to 15 times. Several reports mention that the automatic emergency braking system activates inappropriately, accompanied by temporary warning lights on the dashboard, although these lights often turn off after restarting the vehicle. While no accidents have been reported, the unexpected braking and shifting into park present potential safety risks, as owners express concern about the vehicle's reliability and control.

Owner complaints2

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Owners report electrical system issues with the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan, particularly involving cruise control and unexpected vehicle behavior. Complaints frequently mention that the cruise control fails to adjust speed using steering wheel controls and occasionally causes the vehicle to rapidly change speed on its own. Another issue described involves the vehicle shutting down unexpectedly at a stop, with gears becoming inoperable and the engine cranking without user input. These problems are noted within the first week of ownership, suggesting early onset. Safety implications include potential loss of control and vehicle shutdowns in traffic, which could be hazardous.

Owner complaints2

POWER TRAIN

Owners of the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan frequently report issues with the power train, particularly involving the electronic parking brake and engine performance. One common complaint is that the electronic parking brake engages without driver input, causing the vehicle to shift into Park unexpectedly, often during low-speed conditions such as at stoplights or in traffic. This issue, reported to occur multiple times weekly, poses a safety risk due to the potential for sudden stops leading to rear-end collisions. Another issue described involves the engine stumbling, stuttering, and dying without warning lights, requiring drivers to pull off the road for safety. These problems have been noted shortly after vehicle purchase, with no successful resolution reported from inspections.

Owner complaints2

STRUCTURE

Owners of the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan report issues related to the vehicle's structure, with specific complaints about the materials and components used. One owner notes a discrepancy in the door materials, with the front doors featuring leather and padding, while the rear doors are made of hard plastic, raising concerns about potential injuries in a side impact. Another owner describes a problem with the lower shutter in the front of the car breaking off shortly after purchase, which led to engine overheating due to inadequate cooling. This issue appears to occur at very low mileage, as it was reported after only one use. Safety implications include potential bodily injuries from the rear door materials and engine overheating due to structural component failure.
