What owners reported

2023 Jeep Renegade owner complaints in detail

Owner complaints8

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Owners of the 2023 Jeep Renegade frequently report issues with the electrical system, particularly involving warning lights and safety feature malfunctions. Common symptoms include the illumination of various warning lights such as the auto stop/start, airbag, parking brake, and seatbelt lights, often accompanied by chimes even when seatbelts are fastened. Several complaints mention problems with the blind spot monitoring and lane assist systems, with alerts activating inappropriately or failing to activate when expected. Some owners also note repeated battery replacements within the first year. Safety implications are highlighted by reports of the vehicle shutting off unexpectedly and the forward collision prevention system engaging without an obstacle, potentially leading to sudden stops. These issues appear to occur at various mileage levels, with no specific pattern in mileage or timeline emerging from the complaints.

Owner complaints3

AIR BAGS

Owners of the 2023 Jeep Renegade frequently report issues related to air bags, specifically tied to a recall identified as Campaign Number: 24V510000. Common symptoms include illuminated air bag warning lights and various warning sounds, with some owners noting that air bags are inoperable. These issues are consistently linked to the unavailability of parts needed for the recall repair, with owners expressing frustration over delays. Complaints do not mention any crashes or injuries; however, the inoperability of air bags could imply potential safety risks. Mileage at the time of complaints varies, with one report noting a mileage of approximately 17,000.

Owner complaints2

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Owners report issues with the forward collision avoidance system in the 2023 Jeep Renegade, where the feature activates unexpectedly. Complaints frequently mention the system engaging even when the vehicle is a significant distance from others, such as a football field away, or when passing vehicles in turn lanes. These incidents occur without a clear pattern of mileage or timeline but indicate potential safety implications, particularly in traffic where sudden braking could lead to rear-end collisions. Buyers should be aware of these reports when considering this model.

  1. EXTERIOR LIGHTING, STRUCTURENHTSA 24V918000Dec 10, 2024

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Jeep Renegade vehicles. The incorrect bumper reverse light assembly may have been installed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence: The incorrect reverse lights may have reduced visibility, and not alert pedestrians and other drivers that the vehicle is backing up, increasing the risk of a crash.

    Remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the bumper reverse light assembly, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 30, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is D7B.

Consequence: A front seat air bag that does not deploy as intended can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

    Remedy

Dealers will repair the connection, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning August 27, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 82B.
