Multiple complaints mention the automatic trunk closing unexpectedly, causing physical contact with the driver. There are also reports of the sunroof or moonroof shattering without apparent cause, sometimes while driving, posing potential safety risks. Additionally, one owner describes a mold infestation throughout the vehicle, including the vent system and interior compartments, which led to health issues and financial loss. These problems are reported at various mileage levels, with one sunroof issue occurring around 19,800 miles. Potential buyers should be aware of these issues and verify the vehicle's condition before purchase.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Owners report several electrical issues with the 2024 Ford Edge, with problems often occurring at low mileages around 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Multiple complaints describe the infotainment system failing to switch screens and intermittently displaying a black screen, despite repeated dealer attempts to reset the system. Additionally, one owner notes a weak horn that failed to alert another driver, resulting in a crash and significant vehicle damage. Safety implications are evident in the case of a seat heater malfunction that caused a burn injury, as well as dashboard warnings and engine issues that could pose risks while driving. POWER TRAIN

Owners of the 2024 Ford Edge frequently report issues with the power train, specifically involving unintended gear shifts and transmission problems. Complaints describe incidents where the vehicle independently shifts into reverse, leading to minor collisions, as well as difficulties in engaging gears, which require the vehicle to be restarted. Symptoms such as transmission shuddering and refusal to shift into gear are noted, typically occurring at low mileages, around 100 to 5,000 miles. Safety implications are present, including instances of unintended movement and minor crashes. These issues are significant for potential buyers to consider, particularly for vehicles with low mileage.

Another issue involves the driver's side power seat motor making grinding noises, with concerns that it may fail, potentially affecting the driver's ability to adjust the seat for safe driving. Additionally, owners describe the rear bench seat as loose, with noticeable movement that raises safety concerns when installing a car seat. The closing warning tone is described as inadequate, especially in noisy environments. These issues are noted within the first month of ownership, suggesting they may occur early in the vehicle's lifecycle. Remedy

The APIM software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 13, 2026. Owners may contact Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S09.
