Reliability verdict for the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu

With an 83/100 reliability score against a 79/100 segment average, the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu lands above average. The data points to generally solid dependability rather than standout durability, but it clears the class baseline with room to spare. Recall activity is limited, which supports a lower exposure to broad, manufacturer-level fixes.

Complaint patterns are not confined to a single system. Powertrain and electrical issues lead, but the spread across brakes, engine, and a meaningful share logged as unknown or other suggests a wider mix of owner-reported problems rather than one dominant failure mode. As a fifth-year model in its generation, the profile reads as established, with remaining variability concentrated in core drivability and electronics.

Overall risk level: moderate-to-low for the segment.
