STEERING

Owners report several steering-related issues with the 2022 Nissan Sentra, primarily involving vibration and alignment problems. Complaints frequently mention vibrations in the steering wheel and floorboards, often occurring at higher speeds, with some describing a persistent wobble or shaking sensation. Multiple owners describe issues with the vehicle's tie rods, including popping noises and alignment difficulties, which have been linked to a recall, though parts are often unavailable for repairs. The failure of steering components has resulted in at least one crash, where a tie rod broke, causing a loss of control. These issues are typically reported around 13,000 to 57,000 miles, indicating potential reliability concerns for prospective buyers.

Owner complaints17

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Owners of the 2022 Nissan Sentra frequently report issues with battery drainage, often describing unexplained battery depletion that leaves the vehicle unable to start. Complaints often mention the need for frequent jump-starts and battery replacements, with some cases occurring as early as 5,000 miles. Additionally, multiple owners describe problems with malfunctioning sensors, including collision sensors and safety feature warnings, which can lead to safety features like lane departure and forward collision warnings becoming unreliable. Some owners also report electrical issues such as dimming headlights and dashboard warning lights that activate without cause. These issues can pose safety risks, particularly when they result in loss of critical vehicle functions while driving.

Owner complaints7

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Owners of the 2022 Nissan Sentra frequently report issues with water intrusion, particularly noting water droplets inside the vehicle's interior, often associated with air conditioning use. Complaints also highlight mechanical problems, such as noise from the steering when turning and defective rods and driver wheels, which some owners believe affect tire wear. Additionally, electrical issues are noted, with windows intermittently failing to operate due to a faulty master switch. A few owners describe significant transmission problems, including stalling and erratic acceleration, even after transmission replacement, occurring at low mileages shortly after purchase. Safety concerns are raised by these issues, particularly the stalling and forward collision sensor malfunction during rain, which may affect vehicle control and collision avoidance.

Owner complaints4

POWER TRAIN

Owners of the 2022 Nissan Sentra frequently report power train issues characterized by stalling and acceleration problems. Complaints often describe the vehicle stalling at various speeds, from 10 to 75 mph, leading to a loss of power and stiff steering, with warning messages sometimes appearing post-stall. Additionally, owners mention the vehicle failing to accelerate when pressing the gas pedal, sometimes accompanied by a shuttering sensation. These issues are noted at low mileages, with one report citing problems beginning as early as 505 miles. Safety implications are significant, as these symptoms can lead to loss of vehicle control, particularly when making turns or in heavy traffic.

Owner complaints3

SERVICE BRAKES

Owners of the 2022 Nissan Sentra report issues with the service brakes, particularly involving the brake booster and parking brake. Complaints frequently mention the brake booster failing with symptoms such as a loud explosion sound, a stiff brake pedal, and insulation hanging from the car, occurring around 38,000 to 39,000 miles. Another issue involves the parking brake, which owners describe as failing to engage, causing the engine RPMs to rev unexpectedly, and sometimes disengaging on its own, especially on inclines. These issues are noted to have potential safety implications, as owners express concerns about the possibility of accidents if failures occur at high speeds or in heavy traffic. This information may be useful for prospective buyers looking to understand potential brake-related issues in this vehicle.

Owner complaints3

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Owners report issues with the forward collision avoidance system in the 2022 Nissan Sentra, primarily involving unexpected activation of automatic emergency braking. Complaints frequently mention the system engaging without any apparent obstacles, with incidents occurring at speeds between 20-30 mph. These issues have been noted in vehicles with as few as 1,800 miles and within the first year of ownership. Some owners also describe the pre-collision system light turning on and off, indicating a malfunction. Safety concerns arise from the potential for sudden braking without cause, particularly on highways or in traffic, which could lead to a loss of vehicle control. Multiple owners have sought dealership inspections, with mixed results regarding resolution.

Owner complaints3

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Owners report issues with the 2022 Nissan Sentra's vehicle speed control, particularly when using cruise control. Complaints frequently mention that the vehicle slows unexpectedly during slight turns or curves, with no brake application, leading to potential rear-end collision risks. Multiple owners describe incidents where the vehicle fails to accelerate or brakes unexpectedly without driver input, sometimes at highway speeds, which has resulted in injuries. One complaint attributes the issue to a defective EGR valve, citing a lack of warning to the driver and delayed repair timelines. These issues indicate potential safety implications, including loss of vehicle control and increased accident risk.

Severity signals: 0 crash, 0 fire, 4 injury reports

Owner complaints2

WHEELS

Owners report issues with the 2022 Nissan Sentra's wheel components, particularly involving premature failure of wheel bearings and related parts. Complaints frequently mention that wheel bearings fail earlier than expected, sometimes accompanied by damage to the CVT shafts or axles. One owner describes an incident where the front passenger axle detached while driving at 25 MPH, attributed to a fractured axle and wheel bearing, occurring at approximately 26,319 miles. These issues are noted without warning lights and require significant repairs. Potential buyers should be aware of these mechanical failures, which could impact vehicle safety and reliability.
