Owner complaints3

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Owners of the 2018 Lexus NX frequently report issues with the fuel pump, leading to repeated failures and vehicle stalling. Typical symptoms include the activation of warning lights such as the check engine and traction control lights, followed by the vehicle entering limp mode and ultimately stalling. These issues often occur without prior warning and can happen at high speeds, as reported by owners experiencing stalls on highways. Complaints suggest these problems arise even after fuel pump replacements, with one owner noting incidents around 144,400 miles. The potential for sudden loss of power poses safety risks, especially in high-speed traffic situations. Some owners express frustration over their vehicles not being included in existing recalls despite experiencing similar symptoms.

Owner complaints3

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Owners of the 2018 Lexus NX report issues primarily related to unexpected dashboard warnings and abnormal noises. One owner describes a sudden dashboard warning indicating a need for service, accompanied by stalling and hesitating while driving, which was later linked to a fuel pump recall. Another owner reports persistent abnormal noises and clunking sounds from the front driver side, particularly when braking or turning the steering wheel, which the dealership attributes to normal fuel movement. Additionally, one complaint highlights concerns about the reverse camera functionality in 2018 models, contrasting it with improvements made in 2019. These issues are reported across varying mileage ranges and can impact vehicle safety, particularly if related to braking or camera functionality.

Owner complaints3

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Owners of the 2018 Lexus NX report issues related to the electrical system, with two primary problems emerging. Multiple owners describe incidents where the vehicle's engine unexpectedly stalls, occurring both shortly after purchase and over extended use, potentially posing a safety risk due to loss of power while driving. Additionally, one owner reports a side mirror unexpectedly detaching with exposed wires, raising concerns about component durability. These issues have been noted at varying mileages, with some occurrences happening shortly after the vehicle is acquired. Safety implications include potential accidents due to sudden engine stalling and mirror detachment.

Owner complaints2

FUEL SYSTEM

Owners of the 2018 Lexus NX report issues related to the fuel system, particularly involving the fuel pump and fuel hose. One owner describes a situation where the vehicle stalled at high speed, with warning lights indicating a potential fuel pump failure, occurring around 232,000 miles. Another owner reports a significant fuel leak caused by a torn fuel hose, possibly due to external damage, at approximately 30,000 miles. These issues could pose safety risks, such as stalling at high speeds or fuel leaks, which might lead to fire hazards. Buyers should be aware of these potential fuel system problems, especially when considering vehicles with high mileage.

Owner complaints2

STEERING

Owners report two distinct issues with the 2018 Lexus NX related to steering. One complaint describes a malfunctioning steering wheel that becomes difficult to maneuver, posing a risk if the driver cannot handle the wheel effectively during turns. This issue reportedly began in March 2022 and has worsened over time, with no resolution from dealership inspections and no warning indicators present. Another complaint highlights severe shaking and temporary loss of power while driving, linked to a fuel pump defect, although this is primarily related to engine performance rather than steering. Safety implications include potential loss of vehicle control due to steering difficulties, especially if the problem persists without visible warnings or dealership acknowledgment. Buyers should be aware of these reported issues when considering this vehicle.

Owner complaints2

STRUCTURE

Owners of the 2018 Lexus NX report issues related to the vehicle's structure, specifically with the bottom door panels and interior door beam. One complaint describes the driver's side interior beam as having a dent-like appearance, raising concerns about its ability to provide adequate protection in a side impact, though no accidents have been reported. Another owner notes that the bottom door panels accumulate excessive dirt and snow, and the rear door collects dirt in the gap between the wheel arch trim and the door. These issues primarily relate to the vehicle's design and do not specify any mileage range or timeline. Safety concerns are primarily associated with the potential impact protection of the driver's side door beam.
