ENGINE

Owners report frequent engine failures in the 2024 Cadillac Escalade, with symptoms including knocking or ticking noises, metal shavings in the oil, and sudden loss of power. These issues often lead to complete engine shutdowns, leaving vehicles stranded and requiring engine replacements. Complaints typically arise at mileage ranges between 6,000 and 20,000 miles. Safety implications are significant, as multiple accounts describe vehicles losing propulsion on highways, posing risks of accidents or near-misses. Buyers should be aware of these recurring engine problems and the potential for lengthy repair times due to backordered parts.

Owner complaints7

POWER TRAIN

Owners report that the 2024 Cadillac Escalade frequently experiences sudden and complete loss of power while driving, often at highway speeds. Common symptoms include the engine shutting off, the vehicle shifting into neutral or park unexpectedly, and the inability to restart the vehicle. These issues generally occur between 6,700 and 19,440 miles. Safety implications are significant, as the sudden loss of power at high speeds poses a risk of collision and leaves drivers stranded on highways. Additionally, some complaints mention electronic communication faults and rough idling prior to failure.

Owner complaints6

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Owners report issues with the 2024 Cadillac Escalade related to an engine defect acknowledged in a recall, yet parts for repair are unavailable. Complaints frequently mention the vehicle shutting off unexpectedly, particularly when attempting to accelerate from a stop, with no warning lights preceding the failure. Some owners describe the engine seizing and finding metal shavings in the oil, with these issues occurring around 15,000 to 19,000 miles. Safety implications include sudden loss of power, which could pose a risk during driving. Potential buyers should be aware of the ongoing recall and the current unavailability of parts needed for the repair.

Owner complaints3

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Owners of the 2024 Cadillac Escalade report several distinct issues within the category of unknown or other problems. One owner describes a catastrophic failure of the front panoramic sunroof glass, which shattered without warning while driving, resulting in glass fragments entering the passenger compartment. This incident occurred at approximately 31,000 miles under cold weather conditions, with no visible impact damage. Another complaint involves persistent exhaust emissions system issues; one owner reports visiting the dealership four times for repairs, only for the problem to recur within three days each time. No specific mileage was mentioned for the emissions issue, but the repeated visits suggest a persistent problem. Safety implications are noted in the sunroof incident, where glass fragments struck occupants, though no injuries were reported.

Owner complaints3

SERVICE BRAKES

Owners of the 2024 Cadillac Escalade report issues with the brake system, particularly involving the brake master cylinder. Complaints frequently mention dashboard warnings indicating "Brake System Failure" and instances where the vehicle becomes undrivable due to brake failure, often necessitating towing. These problems typically occur within a few months of purchase, with mileage around 4,000 to 6,000 miles. There are safety implications as one owner narrowly avoided an accident due to the brake failure, and another reports a lack of notification about a related recall. These issues are critical for potential buyers to consider, especially when evaluating vehicles from this model year.

Owner complaints2

WHEELS

Owners of the 2024 Cadillac Escalade report serious issues related to wheel detachment and unresolved safety recalls. One owner describes a situation where a rear wheel detached while driving on a highway, resulting in a crash. Another complaint highlights the manufacturer's failure to address recalls, including an engine defect and a brake fluid warning light software issue, both posing potential safety risks. These reports suggest significant safety implications, particularly for buyers using the vehicle in professional or high-stakes environments.

2024 Escalade recalls (2)

Every NHTSA safety recall logged against the 2024 Escalade. A VIN check confirms whether any recall remains unrepaired on a specific vehicle.

  1. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLINGNHTSA 25V274000Apr 24, 2025

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with a 6.2L V8 gas engine. The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.

Consequence: Engine failure increases the risk of a crash.

    Remedy

Dealers will inspect the engine, and as necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass inspection, dealers will add higher viscosity oil, install 6 oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and update the owner's manual. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 18, 2025. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N252494000.

  2. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULICNHTSA 24V674000Sep 12, 2024

The electronic brake control module software may fail to display a warning light when a loss of brake fluid occurs. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Consequence: Without a warning light, the vehicle may be driven with low brake fluid, which can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash.

    Remedy

The Electronic Brake Control Module (eBCM) software will be updated through an over-the-air (OTA) update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 25, 2024. Owners can contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N242447990.
